Ultrasound is a valuable imaging tool we have available at Ulysses Veterinary Hospital. This tool allows us to visualize our patient's internal organs. Whereas radiographs allow us to assess the size, shape and position of internal organs, ultrasound allows us to look at the inner character of the tissue that makes up individual organs. Abnormal organ texture can alert the doctor to conditions such as cysts, abscesses and cancer. We commonly utilize ultrasound to assess the urinary bladder to look for uroliths, (urinary stones).
